One of the local "horse whisperers" came out Today to help get a halter on our pmu foal Dandelion. His name is Grady Creech and he does a really nice job with the horses. We spent 2 1/2 hours with her. He used a lasso to begin with as she must of had a bad experience because she was much more difficult then I anticipated.(poor girl, getting a brand and shots being her only human contact) I have pictures & will upload them as soon as I get them developed. She is now wearing a halter and likes to be scratched! It is one of those magic moments when you get to bond with them after 3 months of dreadfully slow progress! Stay tuned for progress reports. Grady will be back next Monday to help further. Until then, I will work on leading ,i.e. going forward from a dressage whip and turning to face me to stop. We may actually get to see her real color soon! She is a very pretty palomino roan, but half covered in caked dirt at the moment!

I advertised Wrojo officially just yesterday. It is so hard to have him for sale. It makes me sad every time I see him! He is such a joy and makes me laugh. He decided to dunk his jolly ball in the water trough Today. I hate when he does this because it makes the water disgusting and I have to dump & refill! He also decided to play with the feed tub and I really wish I had the camera when the huge thing was hanging from his mouth! Someone will have great fun with him! His best buddy Domani will miss him too!

Pudge and Niki have decided it is time to shed. I am just going to clip Pudge because I could make another horse with all the hair she sheds each and every day! I got some really cute pictures of the girls with me and Jacob, my 2yr old son!

Dandelion continues to make progress. I am able to groom her on both sides! I have not been able to do much more though because we got alot of rain and her pen is like a soup bowl! I can't wait until I can put her out with the girls!

Wrojo continues to clown around and impress onlookers with his antics. The UPS man thinks Mr. Ed has been reincarnated. Domani is not amused with the jolly ball. Wrojo thinks it is fun to chase him with it. I have to post pics of some of the things he does. I looked out the window and see that he has picked up a huge branch that had fallen in the pasture. I had to rescue him from that one before he hurt himself!

I have not clipped pudge yet because our weather is now colder then normal. I'll have to take a before picture entitled yak, and the gorgeous after picture with my pretty girl hidden under all that hair! I'll post them for your enjoyment!

I'll be happy when spring has sprung!

We have had way too much rain and now we have mud! Atleast it is warm again this week. Dandelion is free at last in the small paddock. She comes up to me easily and loves to be groomed. New pics below. If it stays dry long enough to start working the horses I'll have more interesting things to say! I have a lesson with Ginger Long Tomorrow morning. I'll fill you in on the details after...

I took some neat pics this Morning. It was foggy and I could not resist. Check them out below (Doamni, Pudge, and Niki) and more of Wrojo on the bottom of the sales page.
I'm going through one of those soul searching times with the horses. I am wanting to make it work that I can ride and train more. It has been too long since I have riden seriously. I am now determined to make it work. Wrojo is now priced for a quick sale because I need to finish the barn and get myself riding again! It will truly be a fantastic oportunity to get a great horse at a great price! Of course, the lesson went well and my appetite is whet...

Wrojo is getting gelded on Wednesday. Poor guy!  The mares are in season and I am not set up to keep stallions. He also had a visit from Grady to make sure he is a good solid equine citizen. He was a great boy. I dropped his price for a quick sale. I stopped paying as much attention to him to detach from him. That is not good for a young horse, so he needs to go fast! It is so easy to become attatched and I am again working with him daily. It will be sad when he goes but I am sure he will make someone happy on a daily basis! He is looking better then ever too. He is alone now since I just moved Domani in with the mares. Niki is in love and Pudge is queen. I love to watch them interact. The last time thay were together, Domani was almost king , Pudge barely hovered at Queen, and Niki was a major wimp. Now Doamni is definitly on bottom. We will see if it stays this way.

Wrojo is still a colt. I don't want to jinx us but I think he is sold! The buyer wants him a colt. It is so exciting and I can't wait to tell you more- but I am going to hold off until it is finalized:o) I should know after Thursday. He is getting another visit from Grady to keep him on the side of good solid equine citizen. I think the mares are finally going out of heat and that should help! A new horse was out across the street Yesterday and everybody on my side started to show off. Domani started it . Niki ran around with him and Wrojo across the way joined in. He is so gorgeous it takes your breath away!

Interesting developments on the new herd. Domani has moved up to be King over Pudge. However, Niki is still queen over him, and pudge is still queen over Niki. It has been like this sor a few days. I'll see if Domani moves all the way up or not. He is such a sweet horse, you hardly ever see him put his ears back.

I am not sure if my husband will ever fully adjust to farm life. Here is a true story and I am sure you will probably agree:

I went to bed early and woke up late when my husband slammed the back door a couple of times. I got up to investigate and asked what was going on. He tells me that there is a **** possum on the porch. I'm like OK &I look out and sure enough there is a possum eating out of the can that catches the drippings from the grill. I thought it was an ant eater(joke) for a minute because I did not realize that they have such long noses. Anyway, he is completly freaked out and yelling at the thing to leave. I said not to let the dog out incase it had rabies. So my husband is threatening to shoot it, turning on/off the light and ceiling fan in an attempt to scare it away. He thinks it can't find its way off. We decide it can't see when we blind it by the light. We get one of Ollie's annoying squeak toys to try and scare it away. It was worried but never left. We decide to leave it be and it will leave on its own. Of course, it was gone by the Morning. I removed the can, and  now my husband shuts all the gates on the porch so it can't come up. Yes, we are a little crazy!!

Mood= Hopeful, excited, and anxious:o)

April 7, 2005

So much has happened. Wrojo has sold and has been in his new home for 3 days now. His new Mom is great and has given me daily updates which has helped tremendously to not be continuously sad. As a matter of fact, I have been happy except for the day that he actually left. He is in the best home and Domani will be joining him there for 4 months of training in a few weeks. Thats right- I will be seeing Wrojo for the next 4 months! What better transition could I ask for? I seriously could not have hand picked a better new Mom either! I will miss his larger then life self for a long time! I always called him Red Boy as wrojo without the W is Red in spanish. Well, the day before he left, I called him Roy accidentally and it really fit him. I think his new Mom might like it and keep it too.

Dandelion has had a huge break through with Grady. She is really cute! I can't wait to see her when she fully sheds out. Grady taught her how to pick up all 4 feet, and all about scary, loud things and giving to pressure. What a great start!

Plans are under way to finish the barn. The property is really shaping up and it is so exciting!!

The herd dynamic with Pudge, Domani, and Niki remains unchanged. I have never seen a herd divided like that but they all get along great. Pudge is looking gorgeous and she actually even has dapples. Next journal entry will definitly include a pic of her. Her birthday is the 11th...

 Roy & new Mom Ginger:

May 16, 2005

I have been remiss in updating!! Domani is n training now with Ginger. Wrojo has been bred twice to Avie and fingers are crossed that she is in foal! I had an awesome lesson on Pudge with Ginger. I am getting back into riding seriously! Thursday is a lesson with Niki. I visited her date, Guido in Southern Pines on Sunday. Lots of gorgeous boys there. Guido looks great! I promise to post new pics and more frequent updates now!
